Although I have promised myself only to review music from Korea, Japan and China from a certain moment onwards, how could I not do something for this missed released by guitarist Marc Liebeskind?
The band shows all new World music needs. The skills come forward from Indian music education but cross borders the whole time reaching a whole new level of fusing styles, with funky grooves, jazzy elements (on flute and guitar, but also with adaptive skills by tabla), using different sorts of improvisation skills, while keeping respect most to structure and rhythm and more often also the raga-principles. The guitar plays as well a baroque theme structure, then tunes into the any element in respect to the Indian raga fusion, then leads with acoustic or electric solos. To best effect, the trio is playing simultaneously on the same level of execution, completely adapted to each other’s vision and reflections. Recommended.
