Different as the previous album is that this not just a mix of grooves but it keeps it ties better together in theme, as well as with a bit more respect to the original songs, keeping it together as a Christmas song collection compilation, still being mixed together as one listening session (with a bit shortened tracks too). It makes this a rather interesting as well as a somewhat groovy at times bizar listen. Once again, except for Key Boys the compilation does not give us much of a clue who were the musicians and bands or original records here, which for us collectors still is a shame, because it is again excluding or filtering out some of our interest towards this original music. The album is destined to become a Christmas present to some. Might disappear as quickly in a drawer too despite all temporally surprises.

어느덧 한 해의 끝자락인 12월, 엄동설한의 긴 겨울이 시작되었다. 각종 송년회 모임과 크리스마스를 지나 송년의 시간이 다가오니 다사다난했던 한 해를 되돌아보게 된다. 계절이 바뀌면 유난히 듣고 싶은 노래가 있다. 봄비가 내리거나, 햇살이 강렬하고, 낙엽이 지고, 요즘처럼 날이 춥고 눈이 내리면 어김없이 다시 듣고 싶은 계절 노래 말이다. 계절 노래는 그 계절이 돌아올 때마다 부활하며 영원히 추억으로 기억된다. 마치 서랍 속에 고이 넣어뒀다가 문득 그리워질 때 꺼내보고 싶은 오래된 사진처럼.
겨울을 대표하는 대중가요와 겨울 풍경을 음반 재킷으로 장식한 시대별 가요 LP를 소개하려 한다. 과거 겨울을 대표하는 캐럴 LP에는 한 해를 보내는 송년가들이 대부분 포함되었다. 겨울 노래의 화두는 단연 하얀 ‘눈’과 ‘크리스마스 캐럴’이다. ‘역사상 가장 많이 팔린 싱글’은 기네스북에도 오른 빙 크로즈비의 ‘화이트 크리스마스’이다. 그는 이 노래로 세 번이나 빌보드 차트 1위에 올랐다.

어느덧 한 해의 끝자락인 12월, 엄동설한의 긴 겨울이 시작되었다. 각종 송년회 모임과 크리스마스를 지나 송년의 시간이 다가오니 다사다난했던 한 해를 되돌아보게 된다. 계절이 바뀌면 유난히 듣고 싶은 노래가 있다. 봄비가 내리거나, 햇살이 강렬하고, 낙엽이 지고, 요즘처럼 날이 춥고 눈이 내리면 어김없이 다시 듣고 싶은 계절 노래 말이다. 계절 노래는 그 계절이 돌아올 때마다 부활하며 영원히 추억으로 기억된다. 마치 서랍 속에 고이 넣어뒀다가 문득 그리워질 때 꺼내보고 싶은 오래된 사진처럼.

개인적으로 최고로 생각하는 겨울 노래는 70년대 포크 가수 송창식의 ‘밤눈’이다. 창작곡들로 포진된 1974년 송창식 3집에 수록된 이 노래는 특별한 사연이 있다. 남성 듀오 트윈폴리오 결성 후 인기를 누리던 송창식은 입대 영장을 받고 가수 활동을 지속할 수 있을지 불안에 시달리며 심란한 시간을 보내고 있었다. 그때 소설가 최인호(음반에는 ‘최영호’로 표기)가 통기타 가수들에게 노랫말을 줘서 곡을 붙이는 작업을 했다. 송창식에게 배당된 노랫말이 바로 ‘밤눈’이었다. 최인호의 서정적인 노랫말도 근사했지만, 미래가 불투명했던 당시의 허탈하고 답답한 젊은 날의 솔직한 심정을 아름다운 멜로디로 담아낸 송창식의 진심은 많은 젊은 영혼들에게 오랫동안 공감대를 형성하며 사랑받았다.

상대적으로 젊은 세대는 KBS 드라마 <미안하다 사랑한다>에 등장했던 박효신의 ‘눈의 꽃’과 영화 <내 머리 속의 지우개>의 주제곡인 거미의 ‘날 그만 잊어요’를 선호한다. 유엔(UN)의 ‘평생’, 핑클의 ‘화이트’는 경쾌한 멜로디와 리듬으로 젊은 연인들의 발랄한 사랑을 묘사해 사랑받았던 겨울 노래다. 디제 디오시(DJ DOC)의 ‘겨울 이야기’나 젝스키스의 ‘커플’도 첫눈을 신나게 즐기고 싶은 사람들을 위한 계절 노래다. 반대로 첫눈 오는 날이면 오히려 지난 추억 때문에 우울한 사람들은 드라마 <겨울연가> 주제곡인 류의 ‘처음부터 지금까지’나 김건모의 ‘겨울이 오면’, 원타임의 ‘위드아웃 유’를 들으며 마음을 달랬을 것 같다.
이처럼 세대별로 좋아하는 겨울 노래는 제각각이지만 겨울에 들어야 제격이란 점이 공통점이다.

We are going to introduce the song LP of the times that featured popular songs and winter scenes with the record jacket. In the past, Carole LP, representing the winter season, included most of the year-end holiday artists. The topic of the winter song is white snow and Christmas carols. The single that sold the most in history is Bing Crosby's White Christmas, which also appeared in the Guinness Book of Records. He was ranked first on the billboard chart three times with this song.
The domestic winter song released on the album began in 1926 with Yun Sim's "Faust Noel," or the familiar carol, "The First Noel." With the presence of US troops since the liberation in 1945, the popularity of carols was rapidly achieved in Korea through the carol records of foreign pop singers. From the late 1950s, when the ashes of war began to emerge, Hanbok-nam, Jeon-oh-seung and Hagi-song expanded their territory by creating creative carols. At that time, popular singers Song Min-do, Hyun-in, Kim Yong-man, and Kim Jung-ae released their beautiful carol LP. The 50's creative carols borrowed from the classic carol melody, but they're a full trot version.

The sixties and seventies were the heyday of rock and fork. Naturally, many rock bands and folk singers attracted young people with unique and unique carol records. Rock bands, such as Hip Five, Last Chance, and Key Boys, which wrote classic carols in a long version of psychedelic rock sound, are still pricey due to their rareness and outstanding musicality. Kiboy, who rated summer as 'Going to the beach', received it as 'Jingle Bell Rock' until winter.

The last time Santa Grandpa, which features the lyrics of twin sisters duet Barney Girls' mother and kisses, is a unique trot carol.

Nowadays, there are not many new releases of carols, so the release itself is news. Once uncopyrighted, Carol was likened to a "golden goose." In the 80's and 90's, carol records sold only at Christmas and at the end of the year sold tens of thousands without special promotional strategies.
Carol wasn't exclusive to singers. Gags and actors also made carols competitively with low cost and effort to make a good income. Comic Carol's biggest hit is Shim Hyung-rae's comic carol from 1982. The first comic carol in Korea should see comedian Seo Young-chun and female duet Gap-soon, released in 1966, as the “Jingle Bells”. This song is a remixed version of Seo Young-un's brother, composer Seo Young-eun's creative carol, to the existing “Jingle Bell”.

Seasonal songs also have generational gaps. Even if it's winter song, the middle-aged people's 'first snowy street', clear and pure 'winter breeze' like the nursery rhyme of April and May, 'young snow lady' of Cho Young-nam, 'snowflake' of Hyun-kyung and Young-ae, 'winter child' of Lee Jong-yong , Song Chang-sik's 'night snow', Jo Ha-moon's 'snowy night', Lee Sun-hee's 'winter mourning', male duet Mr. 2's debut song 'white winter', blue sky 'winter sea', Kim Jong-seo's 'winter rain' received.
The theme of 'Winter Woman', which set the biggest audience mobilization record in 1977, is also a song with deep memories by Kim Se-hwa and Lee Young-sik. In addition, 'White Winter', which has gained a wide range of fans from teenagers to thirties, ranked No. 1 in the song rankings, flowed into winter songs at coffee shops and fast food restaurants.
The best winter song I personally think is 'night snow' by folk singer Song Chang-sik in the 70s. This song, which is included in Song Chang-sik's 3rd album in 1974, is a special story. Song Chang-sik, who had gained popularity after the formation of the male duo twin portfolio, was having a disturbing time when he received an enlistment warrant and was anxious whether to continue the singer's activities. At that time, the novelist Choi In-ho (recorded as ‘최영호’ on the album) sang songs to the guitarist singers. The song that was assigned to Song Chang-sik was 'Night Eyes'. Choi In-Ho's lyrical lyrics were wonderful, but Song Chang-sik's sincerity, which embodies the true feelings of the young and desolate young days of the past when the future was opaque, was beautifully loved by many young souls.

국내 최초로 크리스마스 캐럴을 발표한 대중가수는 누구일까? 대중가요에 어지간한 지식이 있다면, 1950년대에 발매된 10인치 캐럴음반 재킷을 장식한 당대의 인기가수 송민도를 먼저 떠올릴 것 같다. 하지만 그 역사는 더 거슬러 올라가야 한다. '사의 찬미'로 유명한 윤심덕이 바로 그 주인공이다.
1926년 8월 '사의 찬미'를 발표한 지 2개월 뒤 니토(Nitto)레코드를 통해 윤심덕의 캐럴 '싼타크로쓰'가 발표됐다. 한국 대중가수가 부른 최초의 캐럴이었다. 86년 전에 국내에서 정식으로 캐럴 음반이 등장했다는 사실이 놀랍다.
롯데갤러리 부산본점에서는 한국 캐럴 음반의 변천사를 통해 크리스마스 역사를 되짚어 보고, 10여 명의 현대미술 작가들이 추억하는 한국의 크리스마스는 무엇인지를 체험하는 '한국의 크리스마스' 전을 열고 있다.
전시장엔 대중문화평론가인 최규성 씨 소장품을 중심으로, 한국 최초의 크리스마스 캐럴 앨범, 유명가수와 밴드, 개그맨들이 발표했던 음반들이 1950년대부터 1990년대까지 시기별로 정리돼 있어 캐럴 음반의 변천사를 알 수 있다.
1960년대와 70년대에 나온 캐럴 음반을 보면, 가수 이미자도 크리스마스 캐럴을 불렀음을 알 수 있다. 70년대 음반에는 가수 조영남의 앳된 표정과 함께 한복을 곱게 입은 이미자의 모습도 보인다. 음반엔 '고요한 밤' 등 10여 곡의 캐럴이 수록돼 있다.
국가 재건이 국민적 과제였던 1960년대는 밝고 희망찬 사회적 분위기 조성과 발맞춰 코믹 캐럴도 등장했다. 코믹 캐럴 하면 개그맨 심형래를 떠올리겠지만, 이미 60년대에 희극인 서영춘이 여성듀엣 걸그룹 '갑순을순'과 함께 코믹 캐럴 버전으로 '징글벨'을 불렀다.
1970년대에는 김추자, 정훈희, 양희은, 이장희, 조영남, 김세환, 패티킴, 조용필, 이미자, 남진, 나훈아, 하춘화 등이 가세했다. 캐럴이 대중적으로 가장 주목받은 시기는 심형래, 김형곤 등 인기 개그맨들이 뛰어든 80~90년대. 당시 유명 개그맨이나 가수의 캐럴 음반은 크리스마스 선물로 인기를 끌며 수만 장씩 팔려나갔다.
음반 말고도 전시장엔 크리스마스와 관련된 예술가의 작품도 전시돼 있다. 김덕기는 눈 오는 날 어느 가정집 풍경을, 손솔잎은 한지를 이용해 입체적인 느낌이 전달되는 크리스마스트리를 선보인다.

Who is the first popular singer in Korea to announce a Christmas carol? If you have quite a bit of knowledge of pop songs, you might think of Song Min-do, a popular singer of the day who decorated a 10-inch carol record jacket released in the 1950s. But the history should go back more. Yun Shim-deok, famous for 'salam', is the hero.
Two months after the August 1926 release of the salute, Yun Shim Deok's carol Santa Cross was released through the Nitto record. It was the first carol by Korean pop singers. Surprisingly, 86 years ago, carol records appeared in Korea.
Lotte Gallery Busan Headquarters is holding a 'Korea Christmas' exhibition to review the history of Christmas through the history of Korean carol records and to experience what Korean Christmas is remembered by 10 contemporary artists.
The exhibition centered on the collection of popular culture critic Choi Kyu-sung, Korea's first Christmas carol album, and the records released by famous singers, bands, and gagmen are arranged by period from the 1950s to the 1990s. .

In addition to the album, there are also works by artists related to Christmas. Kim Deok-gi presents a Christmas tree that conveys a three-dimensional feeling using a landscape of a family house on a snowy day and Hanji from hand brush.
